State Grid's White Paper on Green Development, the first corporation social responsibility report published in China, was listed as number one in the top ten domestic social responsibility events in 2010 released by China WTO Tribune of the Ministry of Commerce on January 9, 2011.

The white paper was published on April 19, 2010. In its reason for selection, WTO Tribune commented that as the first green development white paper published by Chinese enterprise, the document, based on State Grid’s green implementations, defined scientifically what is “green development” for the first time and pointed out that the development mode is an eco-friendly, sustainable path capable of addressing climate change and promoting conservation culture.

The white paper was of great importance because it not only showed State Grid’s efforts in creating a green development mode and the corporation’s contributions for China’s economical development transition but also offered a practical sample for the many Chinese enterprises in the process of transformation.

With priorities such as accelerating smart grid construction and building a green energy distribution platform, State Grid is uniting the green forces throughout China’s power industry and the whole society in pursuit of its goals which include reducing carbon emission by 105 million tons in the next decade and contributing over 20% of the nation’s plan to decrease per GDP carbon emission intensity by 40%-50% in 2020.

WTO Tribune, administrated by China’s Ministry of Commerce, began paying attention to enterprises’ social responsibilities in 2003. News and professional essays published by the magazine are regarded as authoritative within the industry.
